First of all, for those who don't know, 6DoF is 6 dimensions of freedom. By this we mean you can control the movement of your ship along 6 axes/dimensions/directions. The most straight forward (pun intended) is forward and back, just like a car. You also have left and right strafing, think A and D in FPS games. Up and down, as in elevation change like an elevator (or lift for you British types). Roll to the side, like barrel rolls from Star Fox! Pitch forward or back, think front and back flips. And yaw, which is like like doing a 360 snowboarding (or how if you see an Xbox you turn 360 degrees and walk away!) To sum it all, I'll add a pretty picture!

Ok, so now that we are all caught up. How do you plan to set up your 6DoF controls? I'll share a few of the ideas I've had and seen recently.

Saitek x52 (or any 3 axis joystick and throttle). The other easy change to this is change the yaw to rudders instead of z-axis.

I think I am going to wait until DFM comes out so I can play around with the feel a little before I decide which route to go.

Do any of you have a different set up? Post it! Preferably with diagrams using the same color scheme, a lot of us are visual type people.
