Hi all, are there any further information available on how CIG will address different play styles in the persistant universe? I have read some old topics about a PvE/PvP slider and apparently that was subject to lots of debates?

I am just concerned that a PU launch without addressing different styles will result in frustration for some users. For instance, some people would like to only go for PvE and avoid confrontations with other players. This could have personal reasons or mere practical ones, as some people are only casual gamers and don't want to be shot down by hardcore pirates all the time. In the worst case, some people might not even get the whole content that they paid for if they tried to explore a sector, or get access to a new systems and are continuously shot down by pirates.

Personally, I really do not like fighting against other players and would definitely prefer PvE. I tried PvP in Arena Commander several times and I am just not good at it. I would not mind in-game mechanics if there is a guarantee that they will certainly work in pulling me out of trouble, if used properly.

I would be grateful if you could give me an update or some more reading material on that issue. Will there be an options panel to regulate whether you'd like to play PvP or PvE, or are the lots of in-game mechanics that will certainly pull me out of trouble (i.e calling for immediate support, help etc)?

cheers,
