In a future where people have holographic touchscreen and all, why don't they fly their ship with a keyboad and a mouse if it's easier and cheaper? Is there a spaceship industry convention? is this against future geneva convention? Do they want to make the life of all pilot in the galaxy miserable? This is some mindblowing question i know. But think about it, maybe there is a space joystick lobby that want to put overpriced command systems in everycockpit so they don't go bankrupt cause their system is outdated.

In other word, if characters used a keyboad/mouse, the "simulation" way to go would be to use keyboad/mouse. It make sense.
