I bought the Freelancer MIS because I feel that it is a multi-role craft with teeth that I could use for solo exploration and cargo hauling with out an escort. They have said the Freelancer series is essentially going to double in weight and cargo capacity. Because of ship modularity I'm starting to feel that the Redeemer could work as a better multi-role craft for me.

Sacrificing the class three missile hard points on the MIS for external tanks will give the Freelancer a much greater range than the Redeemer. Even with trading out the marine compartment for a more dedicated cargo compartment the MIS will have a greater cargo capacity than the Redeemer. More cargo means more profit per run. Another downside would be the replacement cost for missiles on a MIS.

The Redeemer on the other hand has a **** ton of guns. If you put a couple of Suckerpunch Distortion Cannons, to tear through shields, in the rotation the Redeemer is going to be a seriously scary ship. With the cargo container in the tail and replacing the marine module the cargo capacity will probably be around 100 to 150ish. Overall the sheer threat that this ship portrays may be enough of a deterrent to pirates.

Thoughts?
