Use case: Workstation / Star Citizen streaming
Intel Core i7-5820K with something along the lines of a Corsair H100i 77.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Gigabyte GA-X99-UD4
Kingston HyperX Predator DIMM Kit 16GB, DDR4-2400, CL12-13-13 (HX424C12PB2K4/16)
EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SuperClocked ACX, 4GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort
EVGA GeForce GTX 970 SuperClocked ACX, 4GB GDDR5, 2x DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort
Asus ROG Swift PG278Q
I think the CPU should be fine with 3 GPU or even 4 R290s and it should be quite the runner in adobe cs / autodesk.
The long-term plan would be to add 2 more of those ROG Swifts with another 970.
Thoughts?
My questions and doubts:
Are the 970s really powerful enough for 2560x1440? Do they scale up good enough for a triple-display setup? Is gsync with 144 hz and that resolution even a good idea for a triple display setup? Am I really limited to just 4 screens with nvidia or can I add more screens on a SLI setup? 3 Screen surround is fine with me for gaming, but I want to keep some IPS-screens around too.
@CYNICALCYANIDE You are the expert here for nvidia; What are your views on this setup?
[edit: Adjust post to correct resolution of 2560x1440 instead of 2560x1600. Wishful thinking of 16:10]
