Got an EVGA 980 gtx yesterday. Loaded up SC and the Hangar looks wonderful. Very smooth, and free flight was silky and beautiful.
However, in multiplayer i'd get really bad FPS drop when approaching another player. I never got that kind of video lag on my 570 gtx. I thought it might be net lag or something, so i turned off OBS and that didn't help. I dropped settings to Low and restarted and that didn't help much either, but it helped some i think.
I also loaded Vandal Swarm co-op to see if maybe it was a specific player or players that i lagged with, and no, i was getting FPS drop around AI vanduul as well. I did not try single player, so i need to do that, and i also need to check other games and see if anything similar happens. It's possible that i've got a bad card, i had to RMA my last new EVGA card for similar reasons.

Is anyone else getting anything similar? Possibly it's an issue with the new drivers or something? I'll try it out again tonight with other games and update if there's a problem, either my card is bad or the 980 might not handle star citizen well atm. I've heard some other folks have had issues with FPS drops with 780s and other high end cards, but i don't know how bad it is for them or what they did to resolve it (or if it's even resolved for them.)

So my specs are
i7 2600k, asus maximus 4 motherboard
8 gigs corsair
750w
and with a gtx 570 i'd get something like 30fps, but smooth enough to play without a problem.

Anyone else get a 980 and have similar problems? Anyone get a 980 and have no problems at all with Star Citizen?
