I havent seen any topics relating to the question i am about to ask. I apologize if i have overlooked it.

So the thing that really is going to make this game real for me, is having a multicrew ship (currently Freelancer DUR, soon i will add the Constellation Aquila or comparable ship) and being able to take control of the larger systems. I look forward to using engineering and navigation and weapons subsystems...or letting my friends control!

But i got to thinking about the Constellation commercial. They did something with the scanners, and targeted a few nearby planets. They determined that one didnt have an atmosphere, and the other did. That got me to thinking, could our sensors target other celestial objects (drifting asteroid, peculiar asteroid in an asteroid belt, planets, stars..etc)? If so, maybe we could have more detailed readouts of what sort of celestial body it was and its composition..or maybe investigate some space weather near the station..or something.. And the targeting system's effectiveness at identifying various targets and target traits would scale with the version of the corresponding module. Like, the lower-end sensor packages wouldnt be able to tell if it has an atmosphere, but instead maybe just the class of planet. Idk just an example.

Do you think they will make the targeting/sensor system very in-depth and tweakable in this game? I sure hope so.
