I'm curious if there is a file size limit when you upload gifs. as it looks, people can use quite long gifs as avatars and signatures. Wouldn't that slow down the site?

Me personally, I'm not a fan of gifs. Even if they are only 250 kb or anything, they still require processor power. Going through a forum where every second avatar and signature is a gifs means you already have 4 gifs on your screen. It is really noticeable when you try to scroll down.

IMHO the way to keep a site fast is
1. Avoid plugins (flash, Java, pdf, scribd)
2. Avoid iframes
3. Avoid image formats that take up too much bandwidth (gif, png, bmp, tiff)

I didn't know where to post feedback so I put it here.
