Here is my concept for a 6 DOF controller:
Most of it can be made from a gaming mouse with wheel.
The upper part would rotate around a fixed point for the rotation axi'is. The base would slide like a normal mouse for strafing movement.
Why the wheel for Z movement? So anyone can precisely land on surfaces by slowly rotating the wheel. Very precise.
The only change I would make is lessen the gap between the grip and base...I made it too tall.

The design concept is free to use/manufacture/modify by RSI/Cloud Imperium as well.
