Status Update:

I've been struggling to find a viable way of manufacturing this in a cheap manner. The thing is: I have neither the time or money or contacts needed to start a small production run.

So I think I'm going to give something back to the community. How would you feel about some donationware? I'll leave here a nice package with 3D files por 3D Printing or fabrication, and instructions to put it together. Including the source Cinema4D files, so anyone can customize their CLAW Desk Clamp with their name, their logo, joystick size... Anything!
All under Creative Commons-NonCommercial license for everyone to enjoy. All I ask is that, if you like it, you send me a little something to my SC account, so the game gets more funding and I get a little something in return. Or not. It's donationware after all!

Fear not. This is designed to be made with the cheapest home 3D printer available. If you can get access to a 3D printer -i.e. at a local Fablab, fabcafe or workshop- you can get yourself a CLAW or two for very little money. The needed hardware is even cheaper (a 2 meter threaded rod is under $3/2,50€ plus a few nuts and two bolts). It will be definitely cheaper than a consumer product.

I'll post an update as soon as I can write the directions and wrap it in a nice zip file for you.

It all started here: https://forums.robertsspaceindustries.com/discussion/78814/my-prototye-joystick-mount/p5

This is my design for a 3d-printable, easy to put together, custom joystick mount for the X-55.

After getting some feedback from users like @hope, @skupples or @Zyrael, it was determined that the angle was too steep, and something more parallel to the table would be more comfortable and precise.

So, here it is, the newest prototype in "robot grey" (I ran out of black :P):

Features
· Custom designed for the X-55. Fits both joystick and throttle base.
· Sturdy, resistant design.
· Table clamp with accessible screw for quick installation and removal.
· Fits desks up to 45mm (1.75 in) thick.
· Uses readily available hardware, like threaded steel rods and standard M8 and M10 screws/nuts.
· Jump point logo for maximum citizenship!!

I'm thinking on producing them now for sale. But I need to gauge your interest, guys, and I'd like to know if you'd like any further improvements.

I await your feedback!

Not to take away from your efforts, but why not share the design? I guess I'm a big proponent of open build/resources. There's so much great stuff out there people share. Many of which is info many of us no doubt have benefitted from. Personally I'd love to download your design and probably tweak it to fit my needs or improve it. Again, it's up to you, being 3D printable is in the spirit of opensource.
