I started this project at least in theory a while ago when I first backed the game. I will have to get some links put together to give credit for some idea where they are due. I did a lot of forum surfing between here, Mech Warrior forum(they have an entire forum section for simpit building), and I also found some sim racing forums useful also.

I started my build by gathering the hardware first to make sure i got all the measurements and spacing right.
As for my hardware I am using :
PC is a custom home build
Intel 4770k
MSI Z87-G43 GAMING Motherboard
radeon 7950 (Hoping the wife will approve upgrading this to an R9 soon)
8 GB Corsair ram
850 watts PSU
Windows 7 64bit

Controllers
Corsair K70 keyboard
Corsair m95 Mouse
Saitek X-55
Voice Attack ( http://www.voiceattack.com/ )
Home Made track IR ( http://www.free-track.net )( http://myfreetrackheadset.blogspot.com/ )

I had planned on doing some more research and planning for the Pit but my current computer chair after 8 years of hard gaming I finally broke the lock that keeps it in the up position and i prefer to be sat up when gaming so I am starting the build.

I started with a chair I pulled from the junk yard out of a Dodge Stratus for $21..

Then I built a basic wood frame I could build the rest off..

After that was done wanted to test it for fit at my desk..

In position

I gamed for a day or two making sure I like the height and everything before I started building other parts based on these measurements.

I started working on the left arm fitment.
