For me this is a difficult choice between the Constellation Taurus or melting it for a Drake Caterpillar. I do intend to be a freighter pilot (or "space trucker") but, by the same token of choice for this task, I also wish to pilot a large ship as a lone pilot. That was why I originally pledged for a Constellation Taurus. In my opinion, it is the only variant of Constellation that does not require a dedicated crew and in spite of what the ship stats say, I see no reason why the Taurus cannot be as effectively piloted by one person alone as a Freelancer or a Cutlass(which, though primarily a fighting ship, is easily versatile to the role as a medium sized freighter). So it begs the question as to whether or not the same can be said of the Drake Caterpillar. Even though it has a lot more cargo space and leg room, can it be effectively piloted by one person alone? The ship stats say that it takes a max crew of five, but is this just a reference to facilitating a pirate boarding party?(piracy is something I don't intend to partake of in any way) It's also been stated in clean shot #4 "the Drake Caterpillar model E is a hauler, straight up, no frills". But does it need a dedicated crew for this role and also for defending the ship from pirate attacks? Or can it be configured in such a way as to enable a lone pilot to operate it as a freighter and effectively defend it from pilot attacks without a crew.
Opinions please, anyone.
