I kinda doubt there is anything definitive as an answer, but I'm going to ask anyway.

So, here's the scenario...you have 4 friends out cruising, 3 of them are in a Cutlass, 1 is flying a Freelancer (with a Cutlass escort, he isn't worried about manning that rear turret). The 4 players decide they are done for now, and are going to get off, but are nowhere near a station. Unfortunately (as far as I can tell) Cutlasses don't have beds. The Freelancer, on the other hand, has 4 beds. Do you all think it is within the realm of possibility for the Cutlass and the Freelancer to stop and connect docking collars, then for the crew of the Cutlass to all pile into the Freelancer to go to bed. Then, when they log back on, the two ships are still hitched together where they left them.

The reason this entered my mind as a possibility is because that is almost certainly the case with carrier-type ships. You land your Hornet in the bay of an Idris and go to bed, you'll wake up, still on-board the Idris with your Hornet still sitting in the bay where you left it.

I can see the answer being 'no,' because a carrier-type ship carries things internally and is meant to haul them...while a docking collar isn't meant for dragging a ship along with you, and could result in one of the ships getting inadvertently abandoned, but I also think it could be quite useful for teams of players who can't afford/don't want to field a capital ship.

Has anyone heard anything to this tune, or seen anything that may give indication?
