Allot has been made on this question lately will freighters if Jumped by Pirates or Hostiles have a chance to escape, if the Freighter is under gunned from the get go will they be able to flee at any speed to survive . Does anyone have a clue how Escape mechanics might work . I know you can never tell what real player pirates might do, or will such encounters really be that rare. I know the likelihood of such things happening increases with where your traveling. But it would still be nice to know a freighter can stand some hope, and before people say just get some Escorts it has been hinted that Escort prices might on average be more expensive then what you will get paid for hauling making them not cost effective most of the time.
