UPDATE: Saitek has sent me a new top to the joystick (the handle etc), and it has seemed to alleviate my problems. Wow, Saitek actually came thru for once.. :P
Hi guys,
The problem
I have recently been putting my new X-55 HOTAS through the paces. I rate this as a great product for the money, with one glaring concern that I think needs to be addressed or at least illuminated.
The plastic threaded ring that keeps the spring in place and attach to the stick shifts when twisting the stick. I don't have rudder pedals, nor want them. I specifically chose the X-55 for this reason. Therefore, I'm going to be twisting this thing a lot.
The clicks are constant, and one can physically see the ring shifting. Here is a video showing this. Look carefully at the ribs of the ring collar. It shifts, although the collar is tightened to the threaded ring. AKA it shouldn't shift.
My attempted solution
I tried to apply dry lubricant to both the collar and threaded ring in order to see if that would stop the clicks. The video is post-application. It still clicks.
I tried all springs, and even with no spring, the collar and ring shift still shift in all configurations.
Call for help
What are your guys' suggestions? I have contacted Saitek about this but they have yet to reply. I hope that this isn't a common problem, given that plastic parts rarely have large variances in production (contingent on their exact process).
Thanks SC community in advance.
