Gday folks,

So we all know that pretty much each generation lately of Intel CPUs hasnt seen all that much of an improvement in terms of performance measured with instructions per clock. 5% generally with haswell, many concluded in testing.

What seems to be much bigger gains is in new vector processing instructions being added to the instruction set architecture like AVX2 compared to older school SSE stuff.

What I dont know is where is the code at with star citizen for vector processing? Is it being compiled with flags for this, supporting code etc etc?

I see little point in entertaining a CPU upgrade for a 5% per clock improvement, but if the additional features of new CPUs from Intel were taken full advantage off by star citizen then I can see a justification in me upgrading moving forward. Especially as Haswell E and the DDR4 are coming online very soon.
