SC and 7 Days to Die has been keeping my free time full up lately, but I was doodling at work, and came up with a design which I want to build. As much as I enjoy working on the Valkyrja and the Aesir, I have stared at the Valkyrja too long, and the Aesir is too big of a ship for me at the moment.

So, I guess I was doodling this after having watched the recent Captain Harlock film. I always loved the Arcadia (you can see it slightly in the Aesir design), and that particular brand of Star Blazers/Yamoto WWII battleship in space. Anyway, I have been hanging around @wtfosaurus and his Twitch too long, and although piracy does not appeal to me, pirate ships do!

The Berserker is an idiotic design really. A picket ship, it will probably be of a similar length to the Constellation, although it will be a larger ship overall, with multiple decks. Picket ships have early warning sensors, and are designed to fill sentinel roles. In the Dvalinn Industries lore, this design is made specifically for detecting Vanduul raids at long range, with superior sensors to detect hostiles, and capital class guns to fire long range volleys to hopefully give other vessels the chance to escape before the enemy gets into firing range. The Berserker can not stand up against a full capital ship, but it is a glass cannon. It hides at the outskirts of sensor range, using long range guns to attempt to disable enemy carriers whilst their fleet can jump to safety.

However, it may be the fact that it's main turret is intimidating, or the fact that its sensor prow is actually very solidly built and has known to be employed in desperate ramming manoeuvres, the Berserker has become popular in the lawless outskirts of the empire, especially amongst pirates who are attracted to it's unusual wheel-house style bridge.

Proposed Stats

Not going to go into detail yet. Basically, I am thinking it is around 50 metres in length (current version in 3D is at 45m)

It is armed with a very large turret with ship to ship weapons, heavy missile launch tubes, and I am thinking a rear AA turret.

There are four main engines, probably around the same as a Freelancer MAX, although this thing would be heavier. The innermost engines (maybe TR4) can move downwards to provide thrust during lift off, and can gimble around 45 degrees left to right. The outermost engines can rotate 360 degrees, facing downwards and forwards to counter the weight of the front of the ship. Its engines are actually two each, a TR3 and a TR2, and can point at slightly different angles, kind of like the Cutlass.

The front dome is a massive long range radar system.

So, your comments please!
