With the recent issues around the 970, and the price drops on the 290 series, I have recommended to him that he should either consider jumping to 980 territory (He said no. Something about paying rent and buying food...) or get an AMD 290 or 290x. Plenty of choices on NewEgg and Amazon, so which will be the best card for the money?
I've made sure he has enough power supply to run the card already, and we have a case fan set up to blow directly at it. He does not want to wait till 8 gig cards hit the market.
