UPDATE: There are only two options, because this is all I was originally interested in, but now thanks to you guys, it's turning into a discussion about CH products instead, lol.
OK, I know this has been discussed in previous joystick threads, but you know how it is... if you necro an old thread, you get yelled at, and if you make a new redundant thread, you get yelled at instead.
Besides, I have some very specific questions, namely:
1. Is the X52 Pro really lemon-prone?? Reason I ask is that if you look on NewEgg, it seems like about HALF the reviews mention terrible build-quality issues. Lights blink, switches stop working, bad jitters, etc.
Also, everyone says the software is just pure ****, "cobbled together," and "a first year programming student could do better with Visual Basic." And so forth.
Of course there is the issue with the hall sensor(s) needing to be manually repositioned after you buy it. I have no interest in doing so. Can you get by without it?
OK that's more than one question, but I'm calling it question #1 anyway. Onward to...
2. WARTHOG. The most wonderful piece of PC hardware I have ever seen. Except...
WHY SO UGLY?
(Edit: I should rephrase that... I mean that it's not very sci-fi looking, that's all. I understand why. Bear with me...)
Sigh.... is it just me, or would I feel ridiculous using steel bat switches to play a 30th-century space sim? Am I alone here?
I know it's patterned after the real one designed by the USAF, but still. For a space game? I'm not sure it's a good fit.
So what do you guys think? (Rabid fanboyism is TOTALLY WELCOME - when people love a product enough to defend it to the death, they have a reason, and I listen!) :)
Come on, come on... Saitek people on this side of the mat, Thrustmaster people on this side... line up now... FIGHT!
Seriously though, thanks for any input... I will be getting some sort of HOTAS this year, and these are really the two competing for my hard-earned dollar right now.
